On Wednesday, April 28th, 2021, Family Promise of Orange County is partnering with 19 other nonprofit organizations in Orange County to come together for Help Them Home: A Giving Day for OC’s Homeless.

Help Them Home is a 24-hour, online fundraiser fueled by the power of collaboration and connection. All 20 participating organizations work to provide necessary support and resources for the homeless population in Orange County. The Help Them Home campaign unites these organizations to raise $1,000,000 collectively to help end homelessness in Orange County.

The homeless crisis in Orange County is at an all-time high. Currently, there are more than 460 families, including nearly 1,000 children, experiencing homelessness in Orange County. As a result, we have experienced an unprecedented demand for our services. Family Promise of Orange County is one of the few agencies that specializes in serving homeless families with children, and keeping families experiencing homelessness together. So far in 2021, we have already been able to serve 43 families, including 85 children! However, our work is far from over and we need your support to help more families!

On April 28th, Family Promise of Orange County aims to raise $75,000.

Your gift to Family Promise’s Help Them Home Campaign – whether $50, $100, $500, $1,000 or more – will be used to keep families together, safe and housed.

$50- Will fill a family's car with fuel so they can get to and from work and school.

$100- Will cover a night in a hotel for an unsheltered family so they do not have to sleep in their car or on the street.

$500- Three donors at this level will cover one month of rent for a family

$1,000- Ten donors at this level will fund two months of intensive case management for all families in our programs.

Your donations ensure organizations serving the most vulnerable have the means to respond to homeless individuals and families during these complicated times.

Help spread the word!

Tustin Presbyterian Church is located in Tustin, California, and is headed by their pastor, Dr. Steve Ranney. The church is located in Old Town Tustin, which holds a lot of historic significance and serves the local community. People who attend the church have a wide range of theological backgrounds, but they all share the commonality of serving the Lord. Tustin Presbyterian Church’s vision is, “Leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus.” High and vibrant music is very important to the congregation. Their music ministry is a major part of their church and is an integral part of their spiritual leadership program. One of the most noticeable features of their church is the warm and inviting attitude that the people of the church possess. Tustin Presbyterian Church wants anyone who is new to feel as they are a part of their church family and welcomed to all of their activities.

Tustin Presbyterian Church was one of the founding congregations of the Orange County affiliate of Family Promise. They first started hosting families in 2012, when the affiliate first opened. Tustin Presbyterian and one of their congregants, Bernie Jeltema, were instrumental in getting the affiliate organized and served as champions for the mission of Family Promise of Orange County. Over the years, Tustin Presbyterian Church has played an active role in the work of Family Promise, with several of its congregants serving on our Board of Directors, Advisory Council, and our newer House of Ruth Committee.

Tustin Presbyterian Church continues to serve today as a host congregation, with Lynn Petersen serving as Coordinator of the ministry. Lynn is supported by an amazing core group of 12-16 volunteers that are the backbone of the ministry at Tustin Presbyterian Church, providing countless meals and serving as overnight hosts for our families.

We are so thankful to have the support of such a wonderful church!!

We all know diapers are an essential supply for keeping a baby clean and healthy. However, this necessity can become expensive for low-income families. On average, a baby will go through about eight to 12 diapers per day, costing an average of $70-$80 per month per baby. But did you know that diapers cannot be bought with food stamps or WIC payments?

About 3 million children under the age of three are born into low-income families where government assistance does not cover the cost for diapers. It is no wonder why about a third of American families are experiencing difficulties with affording diapers. The situation becomes even more challenging for families experiencing homelessness.

In Orange County, 22% of people experiencing homelessness are families with children. That is why we are so happy to announce we have expanded our Supportive Services for the community! We are now offering diapers and wipes to any low-income families in Orange County, even those not officially entered into our program.

Distribution is by appointment only, and the minor child must accompany the parent(s) to the supply pickup. To book an appointment, you can either email info@familypromiseoc.org or call 714-787-3487.
